How Do We Raise Money?
En Ka Fair
The En Ka Fair has been a tradition in Winchester since 1934. Scheduled for the third weekend in May, it has grown from a single ride and a few games into a much anticipated occasion. Generations of families in Winchester and surrounding communities have attended and continue to support tradition. ~ 90% of our annual revenue comes from the Fair and is the primary source of our fundraising dollars.
Exchange Shop
The What Not Shop started in 1944 and its successor, the En Ka Exchange, opened in 1958. The Exchange is a resale shop specializing in clothing and accessories for the family and is open for sales from Thursday through Saturday, September through June, at 1037 Main Street in Winchester. Donations of clean, seasonal clothes in good condition are very much appreciated. Any unsold items are donated to charity.
Donations
Donations to the En Ka Society support both our ongoing programs, such as En Ka’s Grants Program, Social Service Program, Community Outreach Initiatives, and the En Ka Pantry, as well as long-term financial initiatives through the En Ka Unrestricted Endowment Fund. The En Ka Society is the proud recipient of a Cummings Foundation Sustaining Grant.
En Ka’s Mission
The En Ka Society is a non-profit charitable organization comprised of over 200 women volunteers. Our mission is to aid various non-profit organizations and initiatives that serve the people of Winchester, its residents in need, and our town for public purposes. We provide both monetary assistance and direct service programs in the community. Funding for these services is raised primarily through our annual town-wide fair, grants, other fundraising events, and donations. Since 2000, En Ka has given over $2 million back to the community through grants, social service outlays, and community outreach initiatives.
