Endowment Fund Grant Guidelines
Endowment Grant funding will be considered only for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and other charitable, community-focused endeavors located in or serving the people of Winchester.
The Endowment Fund considers funding:
- Capital requests for major construction projects involving a Town of Winchester public property or a nonprofit private facility that directly serves the people of Winchester.
- New program initiatives or major program enhancements, which may include consultant fees, salary assistance, materials, supplies, or transportation expenses for start-up endeavors.
- Requests that demonstrate direct service and benefits to Winchester residents.
- Grant requests greater than $10,000.
- Multi-year Grant requests.
The Endowment Fund does not consider funding:
- General salaries and fixed operating expenses.
- Materials and supplies that support day-to-day operations.
- Organizations whose primary purpose is awarding financial grants.
Funding Policy:
- Requests from individual elementary schools: For purposes of equity, any such request must come as a joint application from all town elementary schools.
- En Ka encourages applicants to apply to other organizations for support.
- A grant may be recommended for full or partial funding and may be spread over consecutive years not to exceed three years.
Endowment Fund Grant Funding and Acknowledgement Policy:
- Unless there is a substantial change in project scope and/or cost, En Ka will accept from an applicant only one Endowment Fund Grant Application for a given purpose. Also, an En Ka General Fund Grant Application will not be accepted for the same purpose for which an Endowment Fund Grant has been made. However, if a grant request is for a different purpose, an applicant may submit an En Ka General Fund Grant Application during the same fiscal year in which an Endowment Fund Grant has been made.
- Funding for approved grants will be directed to the organization indicated on the application.
- Grant monies can be applied only to the purpose for which the grant was approved. If not utilized within one year of the date of check issuance or as otherwise stipulated in the agreement, the remaining monies must be returned to the En Ka Society.
- En Ka will request reports from grant recipients summarizing how and when grant monies were utilized upon completion of the project, at the end of the year, or annually if a multi-year grant.
- En Ka Society, Inc. appreciates public acknowledgment of grants.
